Going mobile is a hot trend right now, even if your company doesn’t get one soon, chances are your competitors will. Don’t be left behind.
The above quote is from 2011, and now it’s 2014!!! If you website doesn’t have a mobile friendly look or version, then you are losing a lot of views.
In this tutorial, I’ll teach you how to create a mobile friendly version of your WordPress website. There are two ways to create a mobile friendly version of your WordPress – with a responsive design or with a plugin.
With A Responsive Design
The best way to create a mobile friendly WordPress website is with a responsive design. Our website is a responsive website. A responsive design works the save way on a desktop and a mobile screen.
Now, the most confusing part about responsive design is how to create it. There are two ways of doing that. First is creating a responsive design by yourself. You can learn how to create responsive design at this link.
Second is by using a responsive WordPress theme. You can get tons of free and premium WordPress themes from around the internet. ThemeForest is my favorite destination to get some premium WordPress themes.
With A Plugin
It’s WordPress! With more than 30,000 free plugins available in plugin repository waiting for you to download and use them. There are a handful of plugins in the repository which will create a perfect mobile website within our WordPress dashboard. Here are my favorite two:
MobilePress: MobilePress is my favorite plugin for this task. It’s open-source, free, and you can easily create a custom theme. MobilePress themes works the same was WordPress themes. If you’re not a technical person, then just install the plugin and that’s it.
WPTouch: WPTouch is the most popular and a semi-pro WordPress plugin. It’s a free plugin, but also has a pro version of it with more cool and useful features. WPTouch has a user-friendly admin panel, which allows you to customize many aspects of its appearance.
Jetpack: WordPress Jetpack plugin is also a great plugin for this task. It has more than a dozen cool WordPress.com feature, and a mobile theme is one of it.
